iCloud Drive folder is disabled

On my iMac (2008 model with El Capitan), I recently discovered that one of my user folders on the iCloud Drive is disabled.

When clicking on the folder nothing happens, which seems to indicate that the content of the folder is lost.

I am using the iCloud Drive as backup disk, meaning that I frequently copy folders from harddrive to iCloud Drive. Consequently, I am a bit worried about this.

As shown by the picture below, it is only 1 out of 17 folders that has been disabled:

Any help is welcome, as I urgently seeks to find an answer (to this backup problem).

What more do you need to know? If the files are on iCloud.com you can download them and start another form of backup - Time Machine - or external hard drive.

Please back up all data, then open the iCloud pane in System Preferences. If the box marked iCloud Drive is checked, uncheck it and confirm. Your iCloud data should be preserved on Apple's servers.

Then re-check the box. It may take a noticeable amount of time for your data to resynchronize. In the sidebar of a Finder window, a pie-chart icon next to iCloud Drive will show the progress of the download. When the download is complete, the icon will change to a cloud.
